Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Government Affairs and Patient Advocacy Manager is expected to drive and advocate Takeda as a healthcare partner for policy makers, payers and patient advocacy organizations to advance standards of care and access. This position is responsible to support government affairs strategies and cultivate relations with government, key opinion leaders and other relevant stakeholders. Additionally, this position will lead strategic partnership with patient advocacy organizations through collaborations that advance patient goals and outcomes.
This position will work closely with the Senior Market Access and Public Affair Manager in the execution of Market Access and Public Affairs plan.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Government Affairs
Execute public sector strategies and drive public partnerships that is aligned with local vaccine strategies
Establish and cultivate relationships and engagement with pivotal stakeholders: payers, policy makers, government officials and non-govermental organizations
Utilize insights from key stakeholders and identify opportunities for access solutions and business goals
Provide and manage policy discussions/ communications to government officials, non govermental entities and other external stakeholders tailored to vaccine portfolio, incorporating cross-functional actions.
Elevate community awareness and explore opportunities for strategic collaborations with government and non governmental entities.
Organize and participate in key policy forums and activities to support company goals and policy positions
Support Takeda health policy-shaping activities and external brand building in line with vaccine strategies to reinforce company’s positioning and reputation
Patient Advocacy
Lead and sustain strategic partnerships with patient advocacy organization identifying and addressing patient unmet and emerging needs through co-creation and innovative collaborations.
Develop understanding and relationship with relevant stakeholders to ensure early integration of patient voice in policy shaping.
Build patient advocacy strategies based on patients insights and Takeda’s needs to improve patient outcomes.
Partner with Public Affairs and Communications on synergistic strategies and activities in facilitating patient involvement in decision making processes.
CRITICAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Strong understanding of MYSG markets and payor environment (e.g. HTA model, including coverage and reimbursement, pricing and tenders, formulary management, HTA and policy shaping)
Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong business acumen: ability to monitor and process complex information and proven experience in managing complex policy issues.
Ability to assess and articulate the business and reputational impact of policy, legislative, and regulatory issues.
Understands healthcare issues and strategic long-term vision of company plans and objectives.
Ability to manage relationship with external stakeholders
Ability to collaborate successfully with KOLs, policymakers, etc
High level of strategic and analytical thinking and problem solving skill
Passionate, driven and determines to make a positive impact on patients and healthcare systems
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Science-related graduate degree, postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
Experience in communicating, influencing and negotiating with healthcare decision-makers
Minimum 3+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry or payer setting
Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and local languages
Excellent oral presentation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
